Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome

Book Reviews

Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome... is a big thumbs up.

Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome is a big thumbs up.
Whether you are an aspiring leader, new leader or experienced leader you will find helpful tips, advice and reminders that can help keep leaders on track.
As I reflect on my early days in leadership positions, I remember that I kept finding ways to get in my own way. Dr. Assegid’s, Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome follows the mantra, “before you can lead others you have to be able to lead yourself.”
The easy flow and format with Diagnostic Questions, Learning Objectives, and excellent references in each chapter, makes the book read more like a workbook or job aid rather than I text book or novel. I call it a great desk reference guide. Dr. Assegid identifies the important leadership topics and pitfalls: communications, conflict, assertiveness, accountability, imposter syndrome, emotional intelligence, team development, goals, etc. He also provides many references, in case you need to take a deeper dive into any of these areas.
I highly recommend this holistic approach to leadership and believe it can be beneficial to all those that find themselves getting in their own way.

More Than Antidotes - This Book Has Strategies and Action Suggestions

I like books that cause you to think introspectively, let you know what to expect within, and provide specific actions we can take to implement what is written about. "Overcoming First-Timer Syndrome" does just this. While the subtitle says "antidotes", the book is more than just stories. I find the book offers strategies to many levels of professional experience as we are all first-timers in one venture or another. The book is well-organized by topic. Each chapter has an overview of why we should read it, asks diagnostic questions for introspective thinking, provides learning objectives (which is atypical of books - more training-oriented), and then provides strategies for implementation. I recommend this book by Dr. Assegid Habtewold if you are facing a new situation in your professional or personal life. After all, we are all first-timers!

-S. Henderson

A must read for both the first-time and seasoned leader who wants to inspire their team by example.

AZ has nailed it. To me, leadership is like being a confident movie director. The cast is your team. Each actor (member of your team) is unique. As a first-time leader (confident director), your job is to inspire by authentic example, taking into account each individual actor’s uniqueness as well as each actor’s similarities. Throughout AZ’s book, “Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome”, he has kept his focus on the concept of leadership that inspires. In today’s world, true confident leaders, whether first-time or well seasoned, not only direct their teams on specific actions to take, more importantly, they inspire their teams to confidently direct themselves. AZ is an expert at illustrating this truth through his 11 antidotes to thrive. His book will join the ranks of other great leadership books of the present and past. A must read for the first-time as well as the practiced leader. DW Starr, Extreme Confidence Expert: Consultant, Speaker and Live-Performance Transformational Educator and Author.

This book is for every one

This book is for everyone. Wherever you might find yourself today, a first timer or a seasoned professional, this book has the tools to help further enhance your skills.

I appreciate the tone(optimistic) and style of this book. Right from the start, the author paints a rough road map of where he is taking us. By doing so, Dr. Assegid is helping his readers to focus and to dig within.

Moreover, Dr. Assegid also demonstrates a genuine level of authenticity. He’s not afraid to share his struggles and shortcomings. By doing so he is also inviting his readers to reflect on theirs as well.

Get your book today. You won’t be disappointed.

Read this book!

Overcoming 1st Timer Syndrome, by Dr AZ, is a book that will inspire you to choose risk and challenge over safety and easy. It's a booked couched in practical examples of how ASSIGID lives this out every day. Full of wisdom and inspiration, this book will inspire you to live a life that doesn't shy away from failure, but chases it. There are rewards on the other side of failure, that personally, I've never considered because I've been too afraid of trying new. But Assigid's book has challenged me to embrace those fears and chase failure anyways.

Go read this book! And buy a few copies for friends.
